Being

A notion in materialist philosophy designating the entire world around us, which exists objectively, independent of our consciousness. The most important feature of Being is its material character. Because it is material, it is eternal and primary in relation to consciousness and determines its functioning and development; consciousness is secondary and is a reflection of B.
