Dictatorship of the proletariat

Political domination by the working class over the bourgeoisie in the interests of building socialism. It is established in the course of a socialist revolution to suppress the resistance put up by the exploiters and is of a temporary nature. The dictatorship of the proletariat reflects the essence of the state in the period of transition from capitalism to socialism. The state of the proletarian dictatorship is gradually transformed into the state of the whole people.
